4. The Right to Be Informed

This right states that businesses should always provide consumers with enough appropriate information to make intelligent and informed product choices. Product information provided by a business should always be complete and truthful.

How to enforce the right to be informed
Insist upon being informed.
When shopping for a product:

  • Have enough information about it to buy with confidence.

  • Manufacturers are obligated to provide consumers with this information through advertising and proper labeling.

  • The information that the companies provide must be honest and accurate or they subject themselves to legal action.
