South Califonia fires destroys hundreds of homes on Oct 23, 2007. Wild fires blown by fierce desert winds reduced hundreds of Southern Califonia homes to ashes. It forced hundreds of thousands of people to free and laid a hellish, spidery pattern of luminous orange over the drought- stricken region. At least one peron was killed and dozen were injured. At least 655 homes burned and 168 businesses and other structures were destroyed. Thousands of others buildings were threatened by more than a dozen blazes covering at least 240,000 acres. Dozens of men, women and children in Canyon County north of Los Angeles grabbed shoves and garden hose and fought flames creeping up a canyon within 50 feets of their homes. About seven childern and young teenagers worked with their parents as the flames approached their back yards.
